Com is a gifted artist from Racine, Wis. who hasn’t hit it big. . .yet. The dude has notebooks on notebooks worth of poems and verses built up in his room. The thing is, Com doesn’t know how talented he is, he’s too humble.
Com doesn’t make music for money and fame. I mean, of course that would be welcomed and all, but he writes because it’s something he loves to do. He enjoys letting his feelings and emotions bleed out onto his Five Star notebooks through his pen.
5 Stars and Adderall is his latest project. Personally, I’ve had the hard copy for two months and I can’t stop listening to it. There’s such a variety of beats, flows and sounds that it doesn’t get old.
When asked about the progression from his first mixtape through 5 Stars and Adderall: “I got better, you know what I mean? That shit (his first mixtape) was not good.” Com said with a laugh.
Com feels like his best verses are rapped over chill beats. Trap and mainstream songs are the norm nowadays, but he tries to stay away from those types of songs because that’s not who he is. It’s sad that people who actually talk about real issues and content in their raps don’t get the recognition they deserve.
If you could mix J. Cole’s story telling ability with Mac Miller’s younger, funny side and a little bit of Talib Kweli’s deepness, you would have Com. And he can sing. *grandpa from Friday Night Lights voice* I mean, Com’s voice isn’t like Frank Ocean’s or anything, but he is really easy to listen to.
Even though Com doesn’t have any new projects on the horizon, you can bet you’ll be hearing from him sooner than later. If he stays this passionate about his craft, there’s no way he won’t make it.
